The incident happened on Wednesday, Sept. 13, when a person in Yorktown at a residence on Sandpiper Court made threats of harm and claimed they had access to weapons, according to Yorktown Police Chief Robert Noble.
Authorities then limited access to Sandpiper Court out of an abundance of caution and told residents on Maple Brook, a neighboring road, to shelter in place as police attempted to bring the incident to a safe ending.
The incident was contained to a single residence and no one else was inside with the suspect, Noble said.
The suspect was eventually able to be taken into custody by authorities, who also began conducting a protective sweep of the residence after the standoff ended.
The identity of the suspect has not yet been released.
